The Olympic Museum - Exhibits and Calendar of Events at TOM

Everything you need to know to visit the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland - calendar of exhibitions, opening hours, rates, location, tours and more.

LAUSANNE UP: You won’t get a medal for visiting the Olympic museum in Lausanne Switzerland, but you will get an up-close view of the current world record in the high jump. Visitors enter through a fountain enclosed walkway that leads you under an up-to-date bar. Emphasis on going under the bar as the walkway is concrete, not padded.

FEEL THE BURN: Before the Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon only worked once a week as a cast member with Saturday Night Live. One of his more beloved skits, missing since he left in 2004 was Nick Burns, aka, Your Company’s Computer Guy. Computers repaired with condescension? Servers serviced with snootiness? Uh, you’re welcome. Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night Live.

JUMP UP: Want to float like Fosbury? Learn the details of the modern high jump on WikiHow and practice your technique. Author’s Note: Not liable for injuries or embarrassment while flopping onto your couch cushions.

How to High Jump Using the Fosbury Flop

You love history, right? Trick question. Get an added dose of the high jump past and present in ninety seconds.

JUMP AROUND:
Can’t get enough high jump action? Okay, two quick videos, then get outside and get some exercise, will you? Get inspired on YouTube’s Olympic Channel.

Dick Fosbury never thought he’d be a champion and he wasn’t even trying to be. He was the worst high jumper on his high school team and developed his technique to survive. Good coaching and mental toughness took him higher than he ever expected. The lesson seems obvious, but worth repeating here.

JUMP IN LINE: Visit the DMV. It is a place notorious for insane amounts of bureaucracy, the kind which most people can master if only given enough time. You don’t have that time. The person on the other side of the service window does. Knowing that the folks there are merely exhibiting expert bias and aren’t really evil might improve your experience. Or, it might not.
