BR Bullpen

4/19/2018, From the management: We have moved the Bullpen over to its new permanent server setup. It's a bit much to explain here, but I think it's working mostly. We have an issue where some requests are blocked due to too many images on a page. I'm working on fixing that issue today.

GO DEEP: Think I’m kidding about baseball fans and numbers? Check out the Baseball Reference Bullpen for eighty-thousand pages of records, stats, and minutiae. Seeing all of it likely takes longer than a twi-night double header.

JOIN THE TRIBE: Best baseball movie ever is up for debate. But there is no debate about the best trash-talking catcher or best play-by-play man in such a movie. Tom Berenger (Jake Taylor) and Bob Uecker (Harry Doyle) take those honors in Major League (1989). A team of misfits comes back to play for the pennant, though we find out in the sequel that they fail in their bid to capture the World Series. Enjoy as any Cleveland sports fan would, knowing that, in the end, your team will fall short.

Ranking the Top 25 Baseball Movies of All Time

With the recent theatrical release of 42 , which tells the story of the iconic Jackie Robinson and is a must-see for baseball and non-baseball fans alike, there's no better time to take a look at the greatest baseball movies ever put to film...

Classic Baseball Radio Broadcasts MLB : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

everything in here is 1973 and previous which falls into the public domain of mlb radio broadcasts as far as i knowthese are all one file per game, properly...

TUNE IN:
Want to step to the plate with your own broadcast crew in your head? Check out classic radio broadcasts from the 1934 All Star Game to the 1973 World Series. Gather around the radio (or Bluetooth enabled device) with your favorite crazy uncle.

U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA)

Official Bureau of Economic Analysis website. Source of US economic statistics including national income and product accounts (NIPAs), gross domestic product (GDP) and related measures of national, regional, industry and international accounts.

CARTOON IN:
Check out all the government collected data from The Bureau of Economic Analysis. Then watch an animated feature from the BEA on “Why Old GDP Numbers Change." The early numbers weren’t wrong, they claim, it’s just that business people and policy makers demand quick answers. If they wait, the later numbers are better. If we can sit through a four-hour baseball game, we should have that kind of patience.

TAKE IN THE TRASH: In reality, Rich Gedman wasn’t known for trash talking any more than other catchers at the MLB level. But if he wanted to get some pointers, this is a good place to start. Note that we will not be held responsible for what happens if you actually follow some of this advice at the company softball game.

Guy Lessons: A Complete Guide To Talking Trash

Much like dogs, veteran trash-talkers can smell fear and they'll become even more relentless if they sense a hint of surrender in the air. Therefore, keep your trash talk coming and show them you're willing to match them insult for insult.

Baseball Basics: Keeping Score

null

GET TO FIRST BASE: Want to know the basics of baseball scorekeeping? Here is a hint: the casual fan doesn’t track “putouts by the catcher,” only the statisticians do.

KEEP IT WEIRD: Portland, Oregon is known for having things be just a little outside the lines of normality. So, a 1970s minor-league team with no Major League Baseball affiliation was unique enough to be a perfect fit. Actor Kurt Russel’s father brought a band of misfits to town and won more than a few games, as well as hearts and minds. Watch a preview and check out the full Netflix documentary for the hairier side of the minors. I mean, literally hairy. It was the 70s, after all.
